Online casino play in Alberta

Alberta opened a regulated online gaming market on July 13, 2026, managed by the Alberta iGaming Corporation and regulated by AGLC. From that date, a legal online casino needs AGLC registration and an AiGC agreement, and AiGC's directory lists the sites that qualify.

How the market is set up

The launch of Alberta's regulated online gaming market came on July 13, 2026. AGLC is the regulator of this market, and its management belongs to AiGC, the Alberta iGaming Corporation. Two steps make an operator legal online. One is registering with AGLC; the other is a signed operating agreement with AiGC. Holding one without the other is not enough.

When the system launched, it had approved 22 registered iGaming sites.

Two rules apply on the player's side. Only players who are physically in Alberta may play, and registered operators are responsible for making sure of that. In the province, nobody under 18 may gamble legally. A person who looks under 25 has to produce valid government-issued photo ID for casino staff.

Checking an operator

AiGC keeps a directory of the registered iGaming sites in Alberta at abigaming.ca/players/registered-igaming-sites. Anyone can use it to see whether a given online operator is registered. One quick test settles it: no listing in that directory means no regulation. A second sign is the AiGC logo, which approved operators also display.

Play Alberta, found at PlayAlberta.ca, belongs to the province as its own online gaming site. The site is run by AGLC, and the money it brings in goes to the Government of Alberta.

Links to official sites are not paid.

Advertising rules and this site

AGLC's standards apply to anyone who promotes an online gaming site in Alberta through ads. A message about responsible gambling has to appear in every single ad. No ad may be aimed at minors, feature anyone who looks under age, or tie gaming to good looks or social standing.

This guide carries paid links on its home page only, each marked Ad, and earns a commission from them. All lead to one private online casino chosen by the site's link partner, and that casino can change. It is not Play Alberta, and neither AGLC nor AiGC runs it. The site does not say it is registered in Alberta; like any operator, it can be checked in AiGC's directory. Casinos, AGLC, AiGC and Play Alberta never pay this site.

Questions

When did regulated online casinos open in Alberta?

The launch of Alberta's regulated online gaming market came on July 13, 2026. AiGC manages it, AGLC regulates it, and 22 registered iGaming sites were approved at launch.

How can a player check if an online casino is regulated?

Look for the operator on AiGC's list of registered iGaming sites, which is posted at abigaming.ca/players/registered-igaming-sites. If the operator is missing from that list, it is not regulated. Approved operators carry the AiGC logo.

Does this site run an online casino?

No, this site has no role as a casino operator. Its role is an independent guide: nobody can place a bet here, and no player account of any type exists. Its paid links carry the label Ad, sit only on the home page and point to a partner that runs an online casino.
